Resisting Tyranny – Part 28: The Dangers of the Union of Church and State

An organization that controls not only how people breathe but even when they fart is a union of church and state. A political party like this is a church-state party. A government like this is a church-state government.

Politics and religion must remain separate. Religion should only be responsible for providing spiritual and mental enrichment to its followers, while politics should focus solely on material and economic development. Once a political party or government begins to control both people’s thoughts and their daily needs—what they eat, wear, and how they live—it is effectively controlling both their brains and their limbs. Such a church-state system is simply tyranny over the people.

The ruling party and government in mainland China are the clearest examples of this church-state fusion. Thought and speech are strictly controlled. People are denied the freedom to think independently or express their true thoughts. The market is dominated by the state; core national resources are monopolized by state-owned enterprises. The growth and scale of private associations and businesses are restricted by numerous policies and regulations. Wages, pensions, and other benefits are tightly regulated. In this way, people’s brains, eyes, ears, hands, and feet are all bound. Add to this the enormous security apparatus used to intimidate and suppress, and the people become like birds trapped in a cage—born to fly, but unable to spread their wings.

After long enough in the cage, the bird begins to believe it was born to be caged. It sings every day, “My cage is the strongest, my cage is the most beautiful,” having lost all sense of its true nature as a bird.

So what should we do in the face of a church-state tyranny?

In thought, we must never agree with or accept their ideologies and narratives.
Treat every speech by the tyrant like a fart—ignore it, dismiss it.
Reject all of the regime’s policies, directives, and strategies.
Establish your own faith. Define your own values, view of life, view of the world, and understanding of LIFE.
Pursue a lifestyle completely different from the one enforced by the regime.

In action, do not follow the commands of the tyrants.
Delay whatever you can. Drag out what you must. Avoid what you can.
If you must work, then slack off when possible. Be passive.
If you must obey, obey only on the surface—fake it when you can.
And if you must shoot, aim an inch off target.
Let their meetings be held in vain. Let their documents be ignored. Let their inspections fail. Let their orders go unexecuted.

Take the opposite stance of the evil regime.
If they say the one-child policy is good, say it’s bad.
Follow your own ideals and goals, and never concern yourself with whether the evil regime will try to stop you.

Once your mind is clear, your path will follow.
Once your path is clear, your destination becomes visible.
From that point on, your life is your own. No one else’s opinion matters.
Let the so-called experts shout all they want—you don’t need their guidance.
Only you know in your heart what you truly want.
