At 4:10 AM, it was already dawn; by 10:40 PM, dusk finally arrived. The daylight lasted about 19 hours, with the night being only about 5 hours long. Having been in Canada for over nine years, yesterday was the first time I had a barbecue. It reminded me of our time at the Lifechanyuan home in China, where we held at least two barbecues every year. Dozens of us would gather to build stoves, set up iron racks, prepare ingredients, and grill—laughing, talking, and joking; it was always so lively. Yesterday’s barbecue took place in the resort's barbecue house. It was free of mosquitoes and flies, with screen windows on all four sides allowing for a breeze, providing an unobstructed view of the scenery outside. The primary chefs preparing and grilling the ingredients were Xinrui and Huiyi, while Ehuang took charge of "directing the flow of events," and I was responsible for eating. Oh, how comfortable! The only slight imperfection was that there were too few Chanyuan Grasses; our three friends—Tongxin, Jiao'e, and Qinyou—were still busy earning money at the headquarters more than 300 kilometers away. If only there had been a dozen or so Chanyuan brothers and sisters here barbecuing together, how wonderful that would have been! It would have been as beautiful as one could ever imagine! The ingredients for yesterday’s barbecue included chicken legs, chicken wings, lamb, sausages, shrimp, beef skewers, corn cobs, eggplant, tofu, and more. We used three different grilling methods simultaneously: one charcoal fire, one wood fire, and one gas grill. There was quite a lot of food left over, so we plan to continue barbecuing today. Lifechanyuan’s resort features 14 boats across four different types. In the summer, the morning temperature here is only 4–7°C, and at noon, it is usually around 20°C. Boating or rowing on the vast Lake Anahim to play games or hold competitions would be incredibly romantic and pleasant. Unfortunately, the boats are just "sleeping" in the lake or on the shore. They are occasionally used by guests, but most of the time they go unused. The boats are complaining: "Chanyuan Grasses, why don't you sit in our 'arms' and drift leisurely on the lake?" Yesterday, only guest rooms 1, 3, 5, and 6 were occupied, while rooms 2, 4, and 7 remained vacant, as did the two camping trailers. The owner of the camping trailer that is parked here year-round was present, and he goes out boating every day to fish and release them back. I took some photos yesterday; please wait for Jiao'e to find the time to post them. If any brothers or sisters have some spare time, please find a few pictures of our barbecues from the old home and post them so we can all recall those beautiful times we once shared.
